If you can’t afford a Mac or Windows and looking for other alternative. Well, Linux Ubuntu is free, stable, fast, more secure with less viruses and malware. Also the applications that runs on Ubuntu are free, open source programs and allow you to run some Microsoft programs.

Although Ubuntu is free, which is great but you should also check out its pros and cons. Here are some of our observations of the pros and cons of Ubuntu in no particular order.

Windows 7 vs. Vista Performance Test

Many people have asked how Windows 7 compares to Windows vista when it comes to performance.

To answer that question for the last time, we install a clean version of Windows 7 and Windows Vista onto a brand new computer system.

Here is the spec of the computer system we used for our testing:

  • Phenom II X4 955 at 3.83Ghz
  • Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P Motherboard
  • 4GB DDR3 12800 Platinum ram
  • Two Diamond ATI HD4890

Now that Windows 7 is in the market, many consumers are wondering how it compared to the past Windows operation system. Here is the view of Windows 7, to see if the new features are a must-have.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the features inside Windows 7 that may or may not convince you enough to upgrade from Vista or XP.

Windows 7 Taskbar With Big Icons

The first thing you will notice is a new slick looking taskbar at the bottom of your screen. It does look a lot like a Mac I must say. All of the icons at the taskbar are big; mouse over one of the icon will reveal all the windows that are currently associate with that particular icon. Mouse over one of those windows you will get a full preview of that window.

There is something called TwintonMSN, it allow any of you Twitters addict to write all your tweets through MSN Messenger. This can be time saving because you don’t have to go the Twitter’s website at twitter.com to write your twits.

While I was in Thailand for my vacation and had no access to the internet the first couple of days until I found some internet café.

Free version for Microsoft Office 2010

First Microsoft offered free computer security suites with Security Essentials and now Microsoft is planning to release a version of Microsoft Office 2010 for FREE. The last company that is handing out free software to the general public would be Microsoft and so I thought. Before you get too excited about the free Microsoft Office 2010, you must read the fine print.

Microsoft Starter Office 2010

  • The actual name will be called Starter Office 2010, it will be preinstalled with all new computers and laptops by companies partner with Microsoft.
  • The free Starter Office 2010 will have advertisements. This will keep the product free.
  • Less functions than the original paid version of Office 2010. At the moment it is unknown exactly which functions the free version will leave out.
  • The Microsoft Starter Office 2010 will have no PowerPoint and no One Note. It will only contain Word and Excel.
