Dream Host Web Hosting Review

You can’t pay month by month, it has to be pay a total sum of 6 months or 1 year because they want to suck you in as much as possible. But I sign up anyways back in 2007 for the 2 years plan
.
At the time I thought I got myself a great deal until I started transferring all my domains and started working on my sites. I notice that server was very slow for my Wordpress websites, but the static html websites were good. It seems to me they were over selling their share servers and too many people were stuff into one server. I saw some post on a forum saying they were stuffing over a thousand accounts into one of their share server, so my guess was right.
I asked their support to switch my account to another server with better performance but their support told me to use super cache on my Wordpress websites. Which I did but not much changed, then I was thinking to upgrade to their new VPS Hosting, but I read some bad reviews and considering my current experience with their share account I decided to leave Dream Host for good. My account is still active but I only used it for about 4-6 months and paid for 2 years.
I know two people who also have accounts with Dreamhost and are still happy with them today. So it might be my unlucky day when with I sign up and got into a bad server. I would suggest if you ever sign up with them you should go with the lowest plan (currently 6 months) that way if you don’t like them you can write them a ticket saying you will be out at the end of your 6 months contract unless they fix your issues. You should see how fast they fix the problems.
Lastly, I don’t recommend Dream Host unless you only have static html websites then you should be okay. Their server performance was horrible because they over sell their share hosting account. I would never go back to them.

you can pay by the month. but there is a $50 setup fee. so if you pay monthly for six months, it costs more than for a whole year.
