Finding the right managed hosting provider for your online portfolio can be very tough. There are hundreds of providers and each claim to be the top web hosting provider or claim to be the biggest web hosting provider. So how can you tell which hosting provider is good and which ones to avoid?

To be honest, there’s really no single top web hosting provider, but there are lots of good ones and lots of bad ones. All I can tell you is from my own experience, I am a website designer; I make a living creating and designing websites every day. I had dealt with thousands of websites at work and when I’m at home I also have a few personal websites to showcase my design. So, I had been around with many different managed hosting providers. All I want to do is to share you my experience and to tell you which managed hosting providers I recommend to my friends, family and colleagues.

If you are just starting out, perhaps you’re just graduating from school and you want to stand out from the crowd. Your best bet is to have your own domain name with your own email address. Or if you are an experience veteran and want a reliable manage hosting provider. Check out HostGator.

Why host your online portfolio with HostGator?

I recommend HostGator because each shared managed hosting accounts come with cPanel, which is considered to be the best control panel in the web hosting industry. Also, each user account gets a limited CPU usage and memory usage. If someone on the server reached their maximum CPU usage or memory usage, the account will be block. This helps reduce the server load and keep everyone’s websites online. To view your CPU usage and memory usage, login to your cPanel and look on the left for “Statistics”.

HostGator Statistics

Currently I have 15 websites, and 2 parked domains with HostGator. All 15 websites get about 3000-5000 unique visitors per day and about 5000-10,000 page views per day. I should be able to squeeze at least 10,000 unique visitors per day with my shared managed hosting account with HostGator. Which mean, you get a lot of web space and power with a single shared managed hosting account starting from $4 dollars per month.

If you have a few hundred or a few thousand visitors per day, you should have no problem running all of your portfolio or any other websites with HostGator.

Don’t take my words for it. Read what other people are talking about HostGator.

Free software and easy installation with Quick Installation

Use the Quick Install feature inside your HostGator cPanel to quickly and easily install free software with a few clicks. Free software like WordPress, phpBB, Joomla, Drupal, Mambo, Zen Cart and many other great software.

If you want free websites to host your design portfolio, get HostGator starting from $4 per month and use the Quick Install option to install WordPress, Joomla or Drupal, however I highly recommend WordPress. WordPress is not as complicated as Joomla or Drupal and there are a lot of free web designs templates or in WordPress they called themes. Look for your favourite theme and you’ll have your portfolio up and running in not time.

My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on a number of websites for about a year and am worried about switching to another platform. I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into it? Any help would be really appreciated!

  3. Twila says:

You need to take part in a contest for one of the most useful websites on the web. I am going to recommend this blog!

  4. Genevieve says:

“The parking use information is correlated with components associated for the making, its occupants, and its surroundings- particularly transit, population and task concentrations. The user adjusts the scenario using variables connected towards the making and its place, like proximity to transit, jobs and population. Understanding the influence of those variables aids decide how much parking is “just enough” for any certain website.”
