Women tend to be more sensitive in their sense of smell, therefore it would help if you remain realistic and practical in your selection. It would also help if you do not put too much cologne, especially if you’re on your first date. Otherwise women would be put off by the strong fragrance. Not on skin when testing (yet)
Unlike what many people believe, it is better to place a small amount of cologne on a card instead of your skin. Some would say that testing it on your skin will help you determine whether it blends perfectly with your body odor. However, if you are still shopping for the best cologne, chances are you will be trying out several colognes your skin and this will make it hard to identifying which cologne smells the best.
Breathe in fresh air
Before you actually choose a particular cologne, first try to breathe in fresh air so you could easily identify the smell of the cologne you find enticing. This will help you reduce the chances of confusing your sense of smell and further help you zero in the cologne you want to use.
Try them on your body
Once you’ve selected a few colognes you really like, you can try them out on both wrists to find out whether they blend perfectly to your body odor or not. Then consider whether the smell appeals to your senses. You could even create your own cologne by integrating your newly chosen fragrance with a natural scent.
Different event/place = different cologne
Consider the events and places where you are going to wear your cologne. You might not want to wear a strong type of cologne when you’re going to work. Decide which type of cologne you would want to wear in a general setting rather than choosing them exclusively for an event. Although this may work if you are the type of person who wears different kinds of cologne in specific event.
Your cologne can make or break you but if you have found the best fragrance, you could actually bring out the best in you. You should choose the type of cologne that complements your personality and adds elegance and sophistication to your lifestyle.
