Top Shared Web Hosting Providers

Many years ago when I was started looking for web hosting providers to host my web sites. It was complicated and confusing. I didn’t know which web hosting provider to go with and which one to stay away. Which web host company offers the best value and how much should I pay.

Well, ever since that time I had been using many different web-hosting companies for the past 5 years. I have gone and sign up with many web hosting providers with multiple shared web hosting accounts and up to VPS accounts. I will tell you which web hosting companies I very like and which ones I do not like.

Currently I have one account with FatCow and two accounts with HostGator. The reasons I have three different accounts because I don’t want too many sites jam into one place. If I have all my sites into one account, it will surely reduce the server performance and I might even get kick out. By having different shared hosting accounts, I can reduce my cost and take full advance of the unlimited bandwidth, unlimited disk space many web hosting providers offer on their shared hosting plans. When I am ready, I will eventually move up to a VPS, but to save money I will stick with share hosting until I am ready to move up.

Here are the two shared web hosting providers I am currently using and would recommend to anyone

1. FatCow – I have one account with them for a year. No complaint so far. Fast and reliable server. As I can remember the server went down twice for about 2-5 minutes each, which was fine with me since it happened in the middle of the night. I will definitely recommend them. 2. HostGator – I have two accounts with HostGator and been with them for about 2 years. Fast server and reliable. No down time as I can recall. Quick, friendly and competent support. Affordable shared hosting plan. Great control panel (cPanel). They will not squeeze you into a server with thousands of other customers. I would recommend the Baby Plan for best value. 1. iPage
2. BlueHost

Here are the web hosting companies I didn’t like

1. 1and1 – Poor, slow, incompetent support. I didn’t like their control panel. Slow servers. I think they care more about advertisements and marketing than their current customers and the service they are providing.
2. Web Air – Slow email, slow support (1-2 hours), bad control panel. My WordPress web sites were getting some wired errors.
3. Brinkster – Slow database, can’t host multiple domains, no phpmyadmin and I didn’t like their control panel.

I still do have about half of dozens of other web hosting companies I sign up, but these web hosting companies I have listed are the ones that really stand out from the crowd on a positive and negative way.
