Check out this page on how to cancel gas and electricity contracts.

If none of those work, your last resort of canceling without paying any fee is to move out of your current home and move to a location where the company does not service or move into a place where you're are not responsible for paying your gas and electricity. For example, move back to your parents or move to an apartment where the utility bills are under the names of your parents' or you landlord's.

Or if you move out of the country and you can always come back.
