I didn't realize until a few months into this contract that I was actually on a contract and that I was being charged .35/m3 when my gas company I was with before them only charges .14/m3, now when I called to cancel I was told I had to pay more than $1100 to cancel… has anyone found a way out of this scam without paying? Please I need help!

Write that number down just in case. And if you really want to make sure you wont be switching your gas or electricity provider. Call your current provider, tell them to lock your account.

Then watch your gas and electricity bills for the next few months. Make sure you don't see Active Energy anywhere on your bills.
