I moved 6months ago from Milton to Mississauga, and was wondering if Summit Energy’s contract is still valid to my new home, even though its with different enery companies? I was duped like many people with respect to 5 year contracts with them. At the time I was under the impression that the sales guy was part of union gas, I was a new home owner and not educated about these scammers, and now they are threatening me with third party collections, because I havnt given them authorization to become my energy supplier in Mississauga. Does their contract hold up after moving to a different city?

Well, you need to read over your contract. But usually what these alternative gas and electricity providers do is lock you in and if you want out, there is a fee.
You need to move outside the company's service area in order to cancel your contract without any fee. Even then, if you don’t tell them you move – they will send you to collection.
So, in your case you moved to a new location and you are still in their service area even under a different local utility? If Summit Energy is license with that local utility, you are still in hook.
